1. Clean the surface
Wash the furniture with soap and water to remove dirt, pollen, and any chalky residue from UV exposure. Let it dry fully — paint will not bond to a damp surface.
2. Scuff lightly (optional but recommended)
A light pass with 220-grit sandpaper on smooth, glossy plastic gives the paint extra grip. This is optional with a dedicated plastic-bonding paint, but it helps on very slick resin.
3. Apply thin, even coats
Hold the can 8-12 inches away and apply 2-3 light coats rather than one heavy coat, waiting a few minutes between passes. Heavy coats are the most common cause of drips and slow, uneven curing on plastic.
4. Let it cure before use
Surface-dry time is usually under an hour, but let the piece cure for 24 hours before placing any weight on it or stacking furniture.
